SAN GIMIGNANO Collection: Rich in history, art and culture, the beautiful town of San Gimignano ("City of the Beautiful Towers") is nowadays as popular as the Tuscany region where it is located. This new collection was inspired by the splendid Tuscan countryside that surrounds San Gimignano, located near Siena, just 56 km south of Florence. In the medieval era it served as an important relay point for pilgrims on their way to and from Rome. The patrician families who controlled the city built some 72 tower-houses (up to 150 feet high) as symbols of their wealth and power. Only 14 have survived but San Gimignano has retained its feudal atmosphere and appearance.
