Baroque Centerpiece

GRAFFITO FIORI Collection: "Graffito" (Scratched): This method of ornamenting architectural plaster surfaces is applied to pottery by "scratching" the unfired piece with a sharp, fine point tool, thus exposing raw bisque. This "Graffito" design delineates the hand-painted decoration to be applied on the clay vessel after its first firing. This technique was used in ancient cultures, including those of Egypt and Greece. It was refined in Italian decorative art of the 15th and 16th centuries, and was often used to treat entire facades of buildings with large, formal murals.
